ISBA7 - FAQ

Here are answers to most of the frequently asked questions we receive regarding the ISBA7 conference, if you do not find the answers to your questions, then please contact us here.

1. Can I cancel my online booking?

You may cancel either the registration and/or the accommodation part of your booking by emailing isba7 [at] arch.ox.ac.uk using the word cancellation in the subject heading, and including the customer name, order number and details of precisely what part of your booking is to cancelled. Cancellations may be made at any time, however the amount refunded for any form of cancellation will vary as follows: up until 12th August 2016 will be refunded at 100% of original transaction, between 13-31st August at 50% and from 1st September – 9th September at 25%. Refunds can only be made to the same credit card that made the booking. No refunds will be made for any cancellations received on or after the 10th September.

2. I’ve already booked registration and now wish to book accommodation separately. How do I do that?

We have amended the booking page so that accommodation can be added separately to registration.

3. I no longer need accommodation; can I amend my booking just for that?

No problem – just following the process above for cancellation and request only the accommodation part of your booking is cancelled.

4. I’d like to stay an additional night in the college accommodation – is this possible?

This might be possible subject to availability. Please contact Balliol College directly to enquire about this using: jacqueline.gills [at] balliol.ox.ac.uk

5. Do you have other accommodation options?

We only have ~120 single rooms available to us at Balliol, if these are all booked or your needs are not met by a single college room, people will need to source their own arrangements and for which you may find the following useful:

6. What time do the conference sessions start and end on each day?

The actual programme is still being finalised, however reception for the conference is open from 9:45-10:30am, followed by the Keynote Speaker from 10:30-10:45, with sessions beginning at 10:45am on Wednesday 14th. Sessions will go on until 6pm each day of the conference. The conference dinner will be held in Balliol on the final evening (Friday 16th September) and will begin at 8pm with a drinks reception from 7.15pm.

7. When will we hear more about travel bursaries?

These will be dependent on how much sponsorship we receive. We will review the situation at the end of each of July and August and hope to come back to those who have expressed an interest in this at those points.

8. My organisation requires me to make a payment by PO rather than booking online – is that possible?

It is possible however we prefer payment is made by the online store using a credit card. If you cannot do this, then please raise a send a Purchase Order which clearly shows the address and contact details of your organisation together with the name(s) of the delegate(s) and the package they would like to book.  Please email this to isba7 [at] arch.ox.ac.uk and we will raise an invoice and arrange payment through the University’s payment system.

9. Can I submit an abstract in advance of registering?

Yes, no problem!

10. How do I cancel or update my abstract?

11. I am a guest, or a member of media or an academic journal, how do I register without using the online store?

Please drop us a line at isba7 [at] arch.ox.ac.uk and we will register you manually.

12. I want to sign myself up for the ISBA7 mailing list how do I do this?

Please email isba7-arch-subscribe [at] maillist.ox.ac.uk You will receive back instructions, which requires confirmation of your e-mail address and you will also be informed how to unsubscribe from the list.

13. I want to be considered for a travel bursary, how do I register my interest?

Please email the conference team and advise them of your interest.

14. Can I connect to the internet?

There is public wi-fi at the museum, attendees just connect to ‘MNH public’ and follow the very simple instructions (entering an email address and agreeing to the fair use policy).
Anyone with an Eduroam account will be able to use that instead of the public wi-fi. Guests staying at Balliol college will be granted an OWL login to access wi-fi when they check in.
